Once your pieces are cut, here’s how the card comes together…

This card follows a simple four-step layering strategy that gives you maximum impact without maximum stress.

1. Start with a soft patterned background. The subtle texture of the designer paper adds visual interest without competing with your focal point. It does the work quietly in the background — exactly where it belongs.

2. Layer ribbon behind the florals. Running the ribbon behind the flower cluster is one of those small moves that makes a big difference. It anchors the design, adds softness, and creates movement without adding bulk.

3. Build your floral cluster. The stamped and die-cut flowers are the star of this card. Cluster them at varying heights and angles so they feel natural rather than arranged. (More on this below.) This is a two-step stamp set — the outline stamps first in Black Memento, then the filler stamp adds Calypso Coral with beautiful built-in shading automatically. No colouring skills needed.

4. Add a sentiment banner across the center. The banner grounds the whole design. It gives the eye a place to land and ties the top and bottom of the card together.

My Best Tip for Layered Floral Cards

Work in odd numbers.

When you’re building a dimensional floral cluster, use 3, 5, or 7 elements — flowers, buds, leaves. Odd numbers create a more natural, balanced arrangement and stop the cluster from feeling stiff or overly symmetrical.

It’s one of those little design rules that experienced cardmakers use instinctively. Now you know it too.
