Welcome back to another edition of Takin’ It Up Tuesday! Today, I’m thrilled to share a project that shows how easy it is be to be taking our crafting up a notch. If you joined me yesterday, you saw not one but two simple stamping cards. Today, we’re building on that very same foundation layout and elevating our designs using the fabulous Spotlight on Nature bundle.

Starting Simple

I started off with the same basic but solid foundation:

  • Basic Black card base – who doesn’t love a classic look
  • Very Vanilla partner – the perfect companion for a sophisticated look

Adding Some Texture

To give the card some extra flair, I ran the first Very Vanilla layer through my Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine with the Dotted Circles 3D Embossing Folder. By the way, have you seen the size of this folder? It’s 6″ x 8 1/2″ – perfect for bigger projects! For this card, I did an offset on the center, making it more interesting. To do this I simply lined my cardstock to one side of the folder just catching the circle center to one side instead of placing it directly in the center.

Spotlight on Nature Dies – The Fun Part

This is where things get really cool! The Spotlight on Nature dies are fantastic. There are 12 dies in this set with 3 designs around the edges of the circles. Each has 4 sizes so lots of opportunity to mix and match your layers each creating a different look. For this card I chose:

  1. Basic Black layer: I picked the die with those radiating lines for a bold look.
  2. Very Vanilla layer: The die with the open dashes and dots edge adds a nice elegant touch.

Stamping for Effect

On the Very Vanilla circle, I stamped the leaf image in black, then shifted it slightly and stamped again without re-inking to create a shadow effect. This adds depth without much effort.

I attached the stamped Very Vanilla circle to the Basic Black circle with dimensionals and positioned it in the offset center over the embossed layer. Then I trimmed the edge to create that cool partial circle effect. I used the Dotted Circles in the embossed piece to guide the lineup.

Adding the Finishing Touches

  • “Thank You” Greeting: Popped up with dimensionals for a bit of lift.
  • Butterfly: Stamped in Memento Ink, colored with Petunia Pop Stampin’ Blends, fussy cut, and added with double-stacked dimensionals for extra height. She is the star of the show so let’s show her off.
  • Bow: Instead of a knot, I made a bow with checked ribbon for a more sophisticated look.
  • Shimmer Gems: These little gems add just the right amount of sparkle to finish off the card.

Conclusion

And that’s it! A card that’s perfect for Takin’ It Up Tuesday. By taking the same elements of a simple card, adding some layers of embossing and die cuts, we’ve made a card that’s sure to impress without being too complicated.

I hope this inspires you to take your cardmaking to the next level in a fun and casual way. Keep crafting and share your amazing projects!

To transform my Makin’ It Monday simple Spotlight on Nature card into a true WOW masterpiece, I incorporated some of the Spotlight on Nature dies for added depth, taking it to the next level.
