Three Scenic Coast Stampin' Up cards fanned out together — Congratulations, Happy Retirement, and Wherever This Note Finds You — made in the July Stampers Club Discovery Free Online Class

Today’s Stampers Club Discovery Free Online Class was one of my favorites yet — and these Scenic Coast cards are absolutely breathtaking. The dramatic painted watercolor backgrounds, the intricate die cuts, the rich coastal colors — every single one of these cards looks like a work of art, and they’re all completely achievable.

Scenic Coast Cards: Congratulations

This card is all about the wow factor of that die-cut circle window. The Scenic Coast sailboat and wave dies remove the center of an Azure Afternoon panel to reveal the gorgeous painted designer paper underneath — so the “background” is actually the paper showing through the die cut. The seagulls soaring above the sailboat and the bold sunset colors make this look like a painting.

The lower half of the card is just as intentional — the embossed white layer adds texture, the pennant-cut designer paper strip at the bottom echoes the nautical theme, and the gray granite ribbon bow ties it all together with a crisp, tailored finish. Of all the Scenic Coast cards we made today, this one drew the biggest reaction in class.

Card 2: Happy Retirement

The Happy Retirement card is stunning in its simplicity. That large sunburst outline die in Secret Sea sits right on top of the painted sunset designer paper — and because the die is open and architectural, the gorgeous warm colors show right through every line. The netting die, Timid Tiger shells, and starfish cluster give it that perfect beachcombing moment.

Up close, the detail on those shells is incredible. The Timid Tiger cardstock gives the shell and starfish a warm terracotta glow against the cream netting, and the Balmy Blue Gingham ribbon bow adds just the right softness to balance all that coastal richness. This is one of those cards where the recipient is going to want to frame it rather than open it.

Card 3: Wherever This Note Finds You

Scenic Coast Stampin' Up card with Wherever This Note Finds You sentiment featuring a stamped rock arch scene with two sailboats and golden sun on a painted pink and blue designer paper background

This card has a completely different feel from the other two — quieter, more contemplative, with the rock arch scene stamped on clean white cardstock and the warm pink and blue painted designer paper framing it like a window looking out to sea. The sentiment is perfect for so many occasions: a friend who’s moved, a loved one who travels, someone you’re just thinking about.

The golden sun and its reflection in the water have a beautiful shimmery quality that the camera can’t quite capture — it looks even better in person. The two die-cut sailboats layered in front of the rock arch give the scene real depth, and the script sentiment finishes it perfectly. This is one of those techniques that looks complicated but is completely achievable once you see it done step by step.
