Hello, fellow stampers! Welcome back to another “Making it Monday.” Today, I created two fun and straightforward cards using the Spotlight on Nature stamp set. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced stamper, this is the perfect opportunity to explore your creativity with two versions of basically the same card: one super simple and one that adds a few extra details for a bit more flair yet still simple. Let me show you how what I did with just a few supplies!

Spotlight on Nature simple card duo

Card #1: Stamps, ink and paper with Spotlight on Nature

I decided to start with the very basics for the first card. Some Basic Black cardstock layered with a singlee piece of Very Vanilla cardstock. Keeping things simple, I chose one color, Petunia Pop as my highlight color. This bold choice adds a vibrant touch without overwhelming the design. You can choose whichever is your favorite color and this card will always look amazing.

For the stamping, I began with the leaf stamp from the Spotlight on Nature set. After inking it up with Petunia Pop, I stamped it once on the Very Vanilla layer. Then, without re-inking, I moved the stamp slightly to the left and stamped again, creating a lovely shadow effect. This technique is perfect for adding depth and interest with minimal effort.

Next, I added a greeting directly onto the card base using Memento Black ink. Simple, elegant, and it ties the whole look together. For a pop of color and a bit of dimension, I stamped a butterfly in Memento Black ink, colored it with my Petunia Pop Stampin’ Blends, and fussy cut it. I adhered the butterfly to the card with a Stampin’ Dimensional, giving it a nice lift off the page. Remember dimensionals are your best friend and every craft room needs a heavy supply of these little diamonds.

To finish off the card, I added an InColor Shimmer Gem and a small knot of checked ribbon. These tiny details bring the card to life, making it feel polished and complete.

And voila! In just a few steps, we have a beautifully simple card that highlights the elegance of nature.

Card #2: Adding in some Extra Details for this Spotlight on Nature

For the second version, I wanted to add a few more layers and elements while keeping the design similar. Again, I started with a Basic Black card base and a Very Vanilla layer. This time, I randomly stamped background images from the Spotlight on Nature set onto the Very Vanilla layer, adding a subtle but interesting backdrop.

I then cut another piece of Basic Black cardstock and layered it with a smaller Very Vanilla piece. Using the same leaf stamp, I repeated the two-step stamping technique to create that beautiful shadow effect once more.

I wanted my greeting to stand out a bit more so I stamped it on a separate piece of Very Vanilla cardstock, cut it at an angle, and popped it up with Stampin’ Dimensionals. This little change adds a touch of sophistication and dimension to the card.

For the butterfly, I followed the same steps as before—stamping, coloring, and fussy cutting—but this time, I used a double-stacked dimensional to give it even more height and move it above my greeting. I once again added a gem and some ribbon to finish it off.
